  The owner of this campground had a fake police car parked by the highway, and across the highway here has a blue and red strobe light hooked up to a motion sensor. When traveling southbound, it makes it look like a police car behind you.

  Overview: I’ve grown up camping in RV’s and tents. This was not a relaxing or enjoyable experience. The title “Resort” is used rather loosely in the title for this RV park. The extended family who owns the property tries to be there on weekends to spend time together. It seemed they were just using us to help pay for the cost of having property by the lake that they could enjoy, and weren’t concerned about making things better for paying customers. Breakdown: Needed a place to stay for a nearby large family reunion so my mother-in-law made reservations here for 15 people. We rented 4 trailers and one "tent site" between all of us. Here is some of our experience: •Were told 2 of the rental trailers would have AC. Upon arrival only 1 trailer had AC we could use. The other ones had it but 4 different trailer sites shared a 30amp circuit; we were told it would overload the circuit and not to use it. •Fan in bathroom broken •Toilet not fully secured to floor (rocked when sitting on it) •Faucet in kitchen leaked all over counter •Mattress springs could be felt, luckily brought our air mattress "just in case" •The "tent site" was actually a turn-around in the road on the campground on gravel and rocks. Not a very good setup for a family with young kids. •When making reservations, Bob (who lives on site and is apparently the main family member who manages the campground) said he would waive the shower fee since we were such a large group. Once unpacked Bob told me he'd only charge $1 for showers. Only $1, but it's the principle he first said free. •Since the property is owned by an extended family, they take it upon themselves to be in your business. Example: asked Bob if we could use a propane fire pit in a common-use area, he said no problem. When I went to use it another guy questioned what I was doing; didn't even know who he was. Eventually figured out he was one of the family. For those who've seen Office Space, it felt like having three managers and having to answer to all. Hard to relax when people looking over your shoulder constantly. •To get to the lake, you have to run across a highway and there is a curve so you cannot always see the cars coming. •Lots of water-weeds in the swimming area •Waterfront is very small and is a hill, except for a 10x20 foot area that's flat and a deck with a table on it. There is a house on it that the family who owns the place uses/lives in. We always felt we were invading on the family’s property. They were always using the table and had dinner on and it and it felt odd being by the lake while they did their family stuff. •One evening relaxing around the fire on the lakefront, one of the family came out and told the kids to be quieter, it was just after 10 so I can understand that, although we purposely went down to the lake so we wouldn’t disturb people; didn't know “the family” actually lived in the house at night until then. This was frustrating in light of the next point. •Our final night they were having Karaoke at the common area. It was the end of the weekend and I needed to get to sleep to start driving early in the morning. Figured I could put up with it until 10pm when most campgrounds have quite hours. It wasn't until 11:30pm that they finally stopped blaring it over the speakers, and I couldn't even shut the windows to try and block out some of the noise because we weren’t allowed to use our AC and it was too hot. Very frustrating and disrespectful. •We paid $70/nt per trailer, and found out there was a bed and breakfast about 5 min away that our aunt stayed at for $65/nt. Needless to say, the campground is overpriced for this remote area. I wouldn't pay over $50 to rent a trailer and not more than $8/nt for the tent ($17 is WAY too much for this area)

  My wife and I had a reasonably good time here. One thing is for certain, both the owners and the regulars on site are very friendly and helpful. As it turns out most of the people here have been coming for many years, that alone speaks volumes. However, the highway is quite close and it isn't very peaceful, especially for tent camping. It was a little pricy, but there is also free use of the beach and dick across the highway, decent bathrooms, and outdoor kitchen included in that price.
